Welcome to my blog Metro Mommy
Many of you are probably wondering why I just took on a blog when it appears Tim & I have no free time. Recently, we woke up from a baby growing, toddler raising fog and realized it was time to get our lives back!
Last night I pulled into the parking lot of Barnes and Noble and was reminded of an event that could have changed my entire life. It is funny how the event didn't occur but the fact that it almost did haunts me to this day.
I have decided to turn away from large corporate conglommerates this Christmas. Gap, I am so sorry you have been a dear friend. It is time for a change in America and the mid-sized and mom and pop type businesses need our dollars in order to survive.
From now until Christmas I am going to feature these types of businesses and products. This is going to be a fun journey and I bet we are going to find a lot of quality wonderful stuff. Keep me posted on new businesses and products that you find.
Today's Feature Retailer is Acacia.

I got this catalog in the mail for Uncommon Goods and found it to be a pleasant dose of quirky, granola and snark all rolled into one! Typically I view catalogs that don't say Pottery Barn or Victoria Secret as junk mail and never give them a second glance. I have now realized the error of my ways and from now on will only take the uncommon path.

Tim and I were in desperate need of a date night last weekend. We decided to check out this place called Kiddin Around. Their niche is hourly childcare and they cater to parents in need of a date night, getting some shopping done, going to a Dr. appointment, etc. We were a little hesitant about dropping our kids off with strangers and felt like they might be treated like cattle. Those fears were far from the reality of our experience.
The old adage, You get what you pay for, doesn't apply to Arlington's newest downtown addition, the Levitt Pavilion. It opened October 10, 2008 and will have featured 16 different free events by the end of the month. Yes I said Free! So your thought processes are probably doing what mine did, "OK if the concerts are free they have to be no-name entry level artists, right? " Wrong! The array of artists on the schedule are top notch.
Our quaint little 1940's stone cottage that we painfully and endearingly renovated is on the market. This is a bitter sweet moment for us.
This home knew the pre-children Tim and Janna...in fact, it got a glimpse of the pre-marriage version. It is the place we brought two babies home from the hospital, it saw the passing of our great danes sweet old man Hayden and prima donna Ashland. This has been the place of first steps and the venue for many a casual get together and now it is time for us to move on. We will be leaving behind a box filled with memories, triumphs and love. Hopefully all of that will be extended to next person to call this place home.

I was in my freshman year of college at an undisclosed university that was not a good place for me. Nevertheless, I was having the time of my life. I thought I had the entire world in front of me. I had a taste of freedom, some great friends and like most obnoxious 18 year olds, I thought I was invincible.
My cousin has a beautiful daughter that is 19 years old, her name is Daisha. Daisha is a full-time college student. Recently, Daisha was diagnosed with a thyroid cancer.
Our road trip has officially started! Big D is more than a spec in our rear-view mirror, the kids are strapped into their seats hypnotized by what's pouring out of the DVD player and I have my dear friend my wireless broadband card. How did we travel without all of these luxuries?
We will be leaving town this weekend to partake in some wine tasting at Grape Day 2008. I can already hear your 2 questions:
